In short
- We don't use analytics, advertising or third-party cookies.
- We only store in your browser or device what's needed to keep you signed in and remember some preferences.
- That's why we don't show you a cookie banner: there's nothing optional to accept or reject.
1. What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar mechanism that lets a web or mobile app store information in your browser or device. In this policy we treat them the same, because they serve the same purpose.
2. The Genobills website
Genobills' informational pages (like this one) don't store cookies or information in your browser, and don't load analytics, advertising or third-party content.
3. Web app and mobile apps
The app doesn't use cookies. It uses your browser's (on the web) or your device's (on your phone) local storage only for the following:
| What's stored | What for | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your session (access tokens) | Keeping you signed in without asking for your password every time. | Strictly necessary | Until you sign out |
| Temporary data for signing in with Google or Apple | Securely completing sign-in with those providers. | Strictly necessary | Only while signing in |
| Light or dark theme chosen before signing in | Remembering your choice on the sign-in screens. | Preference | Until you change it or clear your browser data |
| Collapsed or expanded sidebar (computer) | Remembering how you left it. | Preference | Until you change it or clear your browser data |
| Fingerprint or Face ID unlock and reminder settings (phone) | Remembering whether you turned them on, and how, on that device. | Preference | Until you change them or uninstall the app |
This information stays in your browser or device and isn't used to identify you for advertising or to follow your activity on other sites.
4. How to delete this information
Signing out deletes your session. You can also delete everything stored from your browser's settings (“Clear browsing data” or “Site data”) or by uninstalling the app. If you do, you'll have to sign in again and your local preferences will go back to their defaults; your information in Genobills isn't lost.
5. Changes
If we ever use cookies or technologies that aren't strictly necessary (for example, analytics), we'll update this policy and ask for your consent before using them. To learn more about how we handle your data, see the Privacy notice.
